Conversational search develops an information need across connected dialogue turns. Follow-up questions reveal the conditions that change a decision. Explain those conditions clearly on your website without creating a separate URL for every sentence in the conversation.
What is conversational search?
Conversational search unfolds across multiple dialogue turns. A later question may refer to an earlier one and add context. The SIGIR tutorial by Mo and colleagues places this within the research field.
“Does that also work without internet access?” is difficult to interpret alone. In a conversation, “that” refers to the previously discussed solution. A system needs to handle the relationship to find appropriate information. Whether it succeeds must be assessed in the specific answer.
Conversational search is not synonymous with voice search: a dialogue can be typed, while a spoken query can remain a single search step. Semantic search concerns the meaning of information; dialogue adds relationships between turns.
A B2B example: Four questions change the selection
This conversation is entirely fictional and serves as a working example. It is not a real AI recommendation or a Nalqerio customer case.
| Step | Customer question | Information needed |
|---|---|---|
| 1 · Starting point | How should we organise maintenance tasks? | Relevant processes and types of solution |
| 2 · Team | We operate three sites. What changes? | Site permissions, ownership and oversight |
| 3 · Constraint | One area occasionally has no internet access. | Actual offline support and limitations |
| 4 · Selection | How can we check data import before switching? | Supported formats, prerequisites and a test process |
The fourth question needs a concrete review process, rather than another general software definition. If your product has no offline support, make that clear in the third answer. Helping someone recognise a poor fit is more useful than moving them forward with a vague promise.

Turn follow-up questions into useful website content
Assign each question a reader task. A recurring technical prerequisite often belongs in product documentation. A selection comparison may justify its own page. A short definition may fit into an existing guide. The deciding factor is usefulness, not the number of dialogue turns.
Write sections so a claim remains understandable with limited surrounding context. “Yes, you can” is unhelpful when the subject and conditions are missing. “Tasks can be assigned within an authorised site” is clearer, provided the capability exists. The FAQ guide develops this approach to follow-up questions.
Link where another check becomes necessary. A supplier-switching explanation might lead to import formats and contract terms. A content brief records which question each page needs to resolve.
How do dialogue, query fan-out and FAQs differ?
A dialogue consists of visible, connected conversational turns. Query fan-out describes a system splitting a query into further searches. An FAQ is an editorial collection of questions and answers. They can interact, but they are not interchangeable.
Google describes possible query fan-out use in its AI features documentation. That does not reveal every internal subquery used for a particular answer. The query fan-out guide explains the limit.
A visible source list does not establish an entire conversation history either. Read it in the context of the individual answer. The grounding workflow helps determine whether a linked document supports the actual statement.
How can you review these questions meaningfully?
Write down the intended conversation path: starting situation, added condition and expected information need. If you examine a real dialogue manually, retain the preceding turns. Without that context, two answers may not be comparable. Avoid confidential customer information in a public example.
For standalone measurement questions, include the necessary context explicitly: “What are the data import prerequisites for maintenance software used across three sites?” This is an independent question. Four such questions do not constitute a test of a continuing conversation.
Nalqerio documents selected authorised API answers and available sources for customer questions. It does not observe private user dialogues or reconstruct a complete ChatGPT conversation. Use the measurement guide and methodology to record the scope and limits of your review.
Turn an unanswered follow-up into a website task
Choose a follow-up that matters to product suitability. Find the responsible page. Check whether a new reader can locate a direct answer, a relevant limitation and the appropriate next step. Improve that point first if information is missing.
For example, an answer mentions easy import, but the website lists no supported formats. The task is to verify and publish supported formats and known limits, rather than “add more GEO keywords”. Record what information was added afterwards.
The B2B content planning guide helps with the editorial work. The product tour shows how Nalqerio connects observations and tasks. Whether the change later produces more suitable enquiries is a separate evaluation; one AI answer cannot establish it.
Frequently asked questions
Do I need a chatbot on my website for conversational search?
No. Building a chatbot is a separate product decision. The workflow here focuses on answering relevant follow-up questions clearly and verifiably on existing pages.
Should every follow-up have its own article?
No. Many belong in an existing section or FAQ. A separate URL is useful when it can fully address a distinct reader task.
Can I replay a complete conversation in Nalqerio?
The usage described here documents individual authorised API answers. It is not evidence of a continuing dialogue with retained conversational context. State and record the conditions of each measurement question explicitly.
