First verify the correct website in Bing Webmaster Tools. Then inspect the sitemap and specific URLs. Treat available AI citation data as a separate report with its own period and definitions. Indexing problems, missing citations and absent website visits call for different actions.
Three stages: Discovery, indexing and citation
Discovery means that a search engine learns about a URL. Indexing means that it includes the page in its search index. Citation means that a particular answer uses or displays a URL as a source. These are different states.
Pages within one website can also have different outcomes: a product page is discoverable while a new guide is not. Inspect individual important URLs. “Our domain is on Bing” does not replace a check of a specific page.
For broader technical barriers, begin with the GEO audit. This guide focuses on reviewing Bing’s diagnostics and subsequently interpreting citation data.
Add your website to Bing and verify ownership
Open the official Bing Webmaster Tools and select the website you actually want to inspect. If necessary, add your site and complete one of the offered verification methods. Use only domains you manage or are authorized to administer.
Pay attention to the exact destination: https://example.com and a redirect from www.example.com may matter in the workflow. Check which version your website treats as canonical. Do not change DNS or website settings hastily when verification already works.
Record the verified destination, responsible person and language paths to inspect. Interfaces change; follow the verification steps currently shown rather than an old screenshot’s button position.

Review the sitemap and language editions
Open your sitemap in a browser and examine several important entries. A sitemap is a URL inventory, not a guarantee of inclusion. In Bing Webmaster Tools, submit your sitemap and review available processing or error messages.
| Check | Concrete question |
|---|---|
| Accessibility | Can the sitemap be fetched without signing in? |
| URL selection | Does it contain published canonical pages? |
| Languages | Do German and English entries lead to the matching editions? |
| Modification date | Does it correspond to a genuine content change? |
Check both URLs when you have two language editions. A correctly linked translation pair explains the relationship; it does not replace technical inspection of each page. The crawler guide helps with access problems.
Inspect one URL and record the finding
Choose an important page and use the available URL inspection feature. Read its status and any details about fetching, canonical selection or indexing. Save the date, exact URL and visible explanation. “Not yet found” and “excluded by an instruction” require different tasks.
Fetching fails
Review the HTTP status, sign-in requirement, redirects and possible bot blocking. Resubmission does not repair denied access.
A different destination is selected
Review redirects, canonical declarations and internal links for consistency.
No specific barrier is shown
Review the content, internal discoverability and timing. Missing inclusion alone does not establish a single technical cause.
For an important content change, IndexNow for WordPress can provide an additional notification. It does not replace diagnosis.
Interpret AI citations with AI Performance
Microsoft describes AI Performance as a reporting view for citations across supported AI experiences. Further views such as topics, intents and Citation Share are explained in the official updates. Check what your account actually displays.
Set a fixed period and read the definitions of available metrics. Citation counts are neither guaranteed search positions nor counts of paying customers. Visible topics and questions do not automatically represent every user request.
Open a relevant page of your own. Does it fit the reported subject? Is the cited information still accurate? Record the specific finding before revising the text. Share of voice explains the difference between competitive share and mention rate.
Turn the report into one next task
A page cannot be fetched: address the documented access barrier. A reachable page has an outdated product fact: correct that fact. A source is visible but visitors struggle to continue: examine the appropriate landing page and its next step.
An empty citation chart does not diagnose your brand as “poorly optimized”. There may simply be no corresponding data for the selected period. Avoid large redesigns based only on a missing bar.
Record the URL, finding, change and review date. The website traffic workflow then complements this with identified visits and registrations.
Use Bing and Nalqerio alongside one another
Bing Webmaster Tools provides a view of your website and available search and citation data. Nalqerio examines released API answers to your chosen customer questions. The tools have separate evidence sources and denominators.
Use Bing for the specific URL finding and Nalqerio for a documented answer baseline. This article offers no automatic Bing integration or direct Copilot measurement in Nalqerio. Name the system actually used whenever you record an observation.
Frequently asked questions
Does submitting a sitemap guarantee Bing indexing?
No. It reports URLs. Accessibility, content and search-engine decisions still matter; inclusion of every URL is not guaranteed.
Are AI citations in Bing’s report website visitors?
No. Cited content need not be clicked. Visits and goal events require a separate analysis.
Can this start a direct Copilot measurement in Nalqerio?
No. The Bing report and Nalqerio API measurements are separate environments. An automatic integration is not offered here.
